The Spanish Civil War produced one of the most exciting fields in world's philately. The three-year war was enough to fill in a complete and still not completely known chapter of Spanish philately. The locals and political labels issued in both zones, Republican and Nationalist, have awaken interest of philatelists from all over the world, not to mention its Postal History, which is, by itself, a specialty in this specialized philatelic chapter. Militia columns, International Brigades, Brigadas Mixtas (Mixed Brigades, formed with regular soldiers and "milicianos" or voluntary militiamen), regular army units... All them had their own and special postage marks. Many of them are still unlisted, despite dozens of serious works have been published from as eraly as the 1940's to catalogue this heritage.
