Més informació
Stationery postcard Edifil 69 to Ventas prison. The text on the back says the prisoner was moved from Asilo de San Rafale to another prison (the one in the address, Ventas), but the card has Asilo de San Rafael censor mark (see this catalogue, mark nr. 31). The name of the prison, Ventas, is strikethrough on the addres, so there are two ways to explain why the piece bears the Asilo de San Rafael censor: the prisoner was returned to this center when she received the card after a short move to Ventas prison, or the card was censored in Asilo de San Rafael and redirected to another prison, which may not be Ventas as it is strikethrough.
Asilo de San Rafael was a religious hospital for children, transformed into an improvised prison for women in 1936. Carmen Huerta Cebrián was sentenced to six monthes in prison for disaffection to the regime on March 5, 1937 (see Archivo Histórico Nacional, Tribunales Populares y Jurados de Urgencia y de Guardia de Madrid, signature FC-CAUSA_GENERAL,113,Exp.11).
