Post card with Bilbao postmark of December 8, 1936 and censor mark Heller RB9.1a, sent to the same city from El Carmelo improvised prison. This prison was a Carmelite convent transformed into prison at the beginning of the war, to host mostly rebel military. Many of the prisoners came from prison ships Altuna Mendi and Arantzazu Mendi, and this prison was assaulted by a furious mob on January 4, 1937, in retribution for a German air strike on the city. Some inmates were killed by the mob.
