More info
Ventura Gasol was Minister of Culture of the Catalan autonomous government during the war, but in 1936 he decided to exile to France because he feared for his own life, as he helped to escape repression to right wing and religious people. He resigned as minister of the Catalan government in 1937 and he was member of the Republican Parliament until 1939. He returned to Spain in 1977, after 41 years of exile, and he died in 1980.
