Prison ship in El Grao, Valencia, 1936

Postal stationery Edifil 69 sent by a prisoner in a prison ship in El Grao de Valencia (Valencia’s port) to the same city. Roller postmark from Valencia dated on Aug 10, 1936 and mark in red «Agrupación Socialista / Comité / El Grao de Valencia» used as censor. From the text it is clearly understood that the sender is a prisoner and that he is in a ship: «Isabel, this card is to let you know that I wrote to you another letter and I’ve not received an answer yet, and in the previous one I was asking you to send me new clowthes: trousers, shoes, towel, comb, tobacco, smoking and writting paper, but if you send all this and they allow it to come in the bag must come with its key pending from a cord tied to the handle; ask in the Maritime Delegation, and if they musn’t allow it in take it back, but I believe they will allow the entrance of the bag, and send soap to wash the clothes.
