More info
An outstanding and highly interesting document of Republican postal history from the very opening months of the Spanish Civil War.
-
Item Type: Postal Entire Card (Enter Postal), Edifil No. 69.
-
Date: 1936 (Early wartime period).
-
Origin: Santander (Cantabria, Northern Republican Zone).
-
Destination: Madrid (Republican Capital).
Historical and Philatelic Context: This postal entire card was sent from Santander to Madrid during the turbulent autumn of 1936. At this stage of the conflict, Santander remained a key Republican stronghold in the north, completely isolated overland from the central Republican zone. This item is an excellent example of the maritime or aerial postal links that maintained communications between the Northern Front and the capital before the fall of the Cantabrian region the following year.
