Spanish Refugees in France, cover from Camp Saint Cyprien to Paris, 1939 Addressed to Bibiano Fernández Osorio Tafall, a Republican scientist who was General Commisar of the Armies during the Civil War and second secretary of the United Nations. After the war, he was responsible of SERE (Servicio de Evacuación de Republicanos Españoles).

Cover from Bobadilla to Seville franked with block of Republican Edifil 657. Unlisted censor mark “Comandancia militar de” and “Censura” handwritten after it. Stamps cancellation being “Bobadilla” handwritten across the block. Very rare.

This is the first time we see such a postmark on an International Brigades cover. On the back, Paris transit of September 8, 1937 and Prague arrival marks dated on September 9, 1937.

International Brigades, post card to Switzerland only with mark SCC 111 dated on May 3, 1937 (Heller Birg. 9) used as franchise, as there are no stamps on the card. Rare circumstance and rare destination, as Swiss citizens fighting for foreign countries could loose their nationality.
