Postal stationery from Montjuïc Castle prison, 1938

Stationery post card Edifil 80n, from Montjuïc Castle prison in Barcelona to the same city. Barely visible postmark dated on June 1, 1938, and text on the back dated on May 28, 1938. The sender is Ferran Blasi Mora (signed "Nan" as abbreviation of "Fernando"). We know the identity of the sender because this signature and calligraphy is the same than in pieces CT123 and CT130. In CT130 the sender's info offers his complete name, and this is why we can identify the other post cards sent by this same prisoner.

Despite there are no marks belonging to Montjuïc Castle prison, the background of the text and of the sender make undoubtable the origin of this piece in the Republican detention center. The text is dated "C.M. 28-V-1938" at the end, where "C.M." stands for "Castell de Montjuïc". A part of the text also proves he was in the Republican penitentiary system: "Del camp de treball nº 2, van tornant molts voluntaris" (Some volunteers are returning from labor camp number 2). The text requests some goods like stationery post cards and paper to write, chocolate, explains he has asked to work in the war industry as he is chemical engineer, and says he has notices from his brother in labor camp number 2 thanks to a friend who was also there and has returned to his same imprisonment place.

He rebut la teva postal del 18 del ct. i, avui, una nota de la mama. El principal motiu de no escriure és la falta d'elements: envieu-me postals franquejades i un bloc de notes de paper ordinari. Contesteu-me les cartes i procuraré escriure sovint. També m'hauríem d'enviar pasta per a les dents. Ja gairebé estic curat del "quiste" o abscés qu ehe tingut. Per lo demés, estic perfectament bé; no he tingut grip ni tant sols febre. Potser és preferible renunciar a intentar venir a veure'm. He cursat, em sembla que amb data 20 del ct., una instància a Auditoria, oferint-me per a ocupar una plaça d'enginyer químic en una fàbrica o laboratori de l'estat, tal com insinuaves. Jo crec que si la casa on treballava i el seu comitè obrer fes alguna gestió a Auditoria fent notar la nostra precisió d'estar treballant, no fóra difícil que tant Pidi com jo poguéssim reintegrar-nos al treball. Molts que han estat reclamats per la Brigada a què pertanyien han lograt ésser reposats al seu lloc. També podrien avalar aquell escrit les cases que, treballant per I. de G. [Indústria de Guerra] estan necesitades dels articles que fabricàvem. Amb tot, no se fins a quin punt és convenient procuara que aquestes coses no segueixin el curs normal (!).

Vosaltres no teniu roba meva perquè jo n'estic ple. Tinc camises, samarretes, calçotets, mitjons i mocadors de sobres: com no és convenient tenir gaire impedimenta, per si ens traslladen.

Del camp de treball nº 2, van tornant molts voluntaris. Entre els arribats últimament hi ha en Santiago Urgell. Aquest m'ha portat notícies de Pidi: diu que està bé; ha rebut les sabates que reclamava, però la carta del 20-V en la què li ho comunicaves, no l'ha rebuda per haver-la recollit l'Urgell i no haver-la-hi pogut entregar. També em diu que us avisi que recolliu el paquet de roba que vàreu portar a casa seva i la envieu per altre conducte.

M'he enterat que finalment vàreu recollir la roba que us vaig entregar el diumenge, però m'agradaria que m'ho confirméssiu.

Si teniu xocolata, proveu d'enviar-ne una petita quantitat en el pròxim paquet, per veure si passa.

Secons em diuen lo que el Pep necessita d'una manera ineludible és menjar.
